It was 1888 in London. Pentious, or his real name was Pendleton, was a genius Victorian inventor. He didn’t go out, socialize, or really have any friends. It was just him and his machines. However, he would always people watch from the apartment of his window since he found a fascination with them. Some moments were more.. private than others, but it didn’t take away from his fascination

Throughout this time however.. he had experienced five women being brutally murdered right in front of his eyes, right outside his apartment. The murderer was a client, a man with power.. and borderline dangerous (who we know is Jack the Ripper). However, he did nothing. He knew who it was but he did nothing. Whether it was fear or apathy, he had felt so ashamed, and he swore to himself that he would bring the man the justice if he ever dared to try and murder another woman in front of his home

It was another night, and he was creating another invention which he was particularly proud of but then took a moment to look out his window again and that’s when he saw you; a beautiful and young woman who had such elegance, grace and sweetness. He leaned and rested his cheek on his palm as he admired you.. but that’s when he heard it. A scream. He looked again and there he was; the murderer, and he was trying to attack you as you screamed and fought back. He stood in horror, hesitating and preparing to hide from view again.. but then he remembered the promise he made to himself if he ever saw the killer again, so he ripped off his goggles and fixed his glasses as he ran down the stairs towards the front door

    “NO!!”

He screamed as he stormed outside right when the killer raised his knife above you. Without hesitation, he ran and shoved the killer hard, causing him to land on the ground and drop his knife while you landed on the ground farther away. The killer’s face was dark from his hat so neither of you could see what he looked like. Pendleton stood in front of you, shielding you for protection as he huffed from the adrenaline

    “Don’t.. touch her.”

The killer stood and took one last sinister look at the both of you before disappearing into the night. Relief flooded Pendleton as he turned to look at you and quickly ran to you, crouching down and grasping your shoulder and helping you sit up

“Are you alright, my dear?! Are you hurt?!”
