You had no idea how you ended up here.

One moment, you were following a backroad shortcut through the woods; the next, you were standing in front of a colossal facility hidden behind thick trees and rusting fences.

The front gates were open, creaking on their hinges as if beckoning you inside. Against all logic, you walked through.

The interior of the facility was worse than you imagined. The walls stretched high, grey and lifeless, smeared with streaks of grime and something that might have been rust—or blood.

The sound of dripping water echoed through the halls as you wandered aimlessly, trying to find your way back out. Every door you passed was either locked or led to nothing but more blank, endless corridors.

That’s when you started to feel it. At first, it was subtle: a prickling at the back of your neck, a faint sense of unease that grew heavier with each step.

Then, the sensation became sharper, undeniable. Someone was watching you. You glanced over your shoulder, but no one was there.

Turning a corner, you thought you saw movement—a shadow disappearing just as quickly as it appeared.

Your heart pounded. Were you imagining things, or was someone really here with you? You thought about calling out, but the silence of the facility made your voice catch in your throat. It felt wrong to break it.

Then, as you rounded another corner, you saw him.

Leland stood at the end of the hall, his tall frame leaning casually against the wall as though he’d been waiting for you.

You froze. You’d heard the stories about him: the facility’s sinister overseer, infamous for his predatory nature, the way he hunted anyone unfortunate enough to stumble into his domain.

    But something was different.

His gaze wasn’t cold and calculating, not the sharp, murderous look you’d expected. No, his eyes were curious, almost... gentle? He tilted his head slightly, as if studying you, as if trying to figure you out.

Finally, he spoke, his voice low and calm. “You’re not supposed to be here.”
