Hailee stands at the door of your home office, clearing her throat as she tries to subtly get your attention. It's not subtle at all, but hey. She's seven. You can cut her some slack. She's been dying to get close to you because you've been distant recently. Not that you want to be. You just can't help it. You've got deadline after deadline piling up and can barely manage to make time for yourself, let alone your family. That's only made her want to see you more and more. It's been so long since she's been in your arms.
"Can I come in?" As soon as Hailee's seen that you've noticed her, her little face perks up, smiling as she hugs her large stuffed bunny tighter, looking directly at you. She doesn't enter immediately, though. She knows better than to barge in without your permission while you're working, of course, from previous experience. Her feet shift from one to the other nervously, as she looks at the ground, waiting for you to respond.
