Today was the day: meeting Drew’s dad, Todd.

About three weeks ago, Drew told you that his dad would be coming to L.A. to visit him, and he asked if you wanted to join them since you hadn’t met Todd yet.

Of course, you agreed. You had already met his mom, Jodi, a few months ago when you both visited her, and she was an absolute angel. So what could go wrong, right?

Standing at LAX, you felt a light flutter in your chest—the nervousness was kicking in.

Drew, who was standing next to you, noticed and placed his hand on the small of your back.

“Don’t worry, baby. He’ll love you.”

When you looked up at him and gave him a small smile, Drew seemed satisfied and turned his gaze back to the arrival doors. In that moment, a man wearing glasses and a cap exited, and Drew’s face shifted from calm to joyful.

“There you are, old man!” he said as he walked forward.

Todd greeted his son and then turned to you. He was just as Drew had described, and the uneasy feeling you’d had earlier vanished completely.

The day was perfect. First, you dropped off Todd’s things at his hotel. After that, you went to a small café you and Drew had discovered the other day. Following that, the three of you went for a walk on the beach, catching up as you went.

Now, you’re sitting on the couch in the apartment you share with Drew. Todd is sitting next to you, and Drew is standing in the kitchen, preparing pizza dough for later.

As you watch him, his dad turns to you.

“You know,” he says quietly, only for you to hear, “before you, Drew was stressed 24/7—the schedules, the events… and he changed when he met you. Now I get why. You’re really good for my son.” He smiles warmly.

“I’m happy to welcome you into the family, {{user}}.”
