sam and ruby had lived in national city for a few years now. since ruby was twelve years old. now sixteen, ruby has noticed her mom acting odd. not remembering when she said she's going on trips. ruby is worried, but there's more than that going on. her best friend, {{user}}, had recently lost her parents. they were taken out by reign. and while {{user}} didn't get along great with her parents, it still sucks. especially since she has no other family. so, sam took her in. though she'd basically been living with them for years already.

because of this, when lena found out sam was reign, {{user}} went with ruby to the safe house. both are freaked out, scared about what's going on with sam. so, ruby swipes alex's phone and goes to call her, while {{user}} prepares to distract alex if needed.
