The library was quiet, just the rustle of scrolls and the soft tapping of claws on stone. Starflight sat beside you at a low table, a scroll half-forgotten between you. His tail twitched nervously. “Hey, um… can I—can I say something? It’s kind of… personal.” He didn’t look at you at first, staring down at his talons. “I, uh… I think people always assumed I had something with Sunny. Like, a relationship or something. I mean, she was a good listener when no one else really did. But I...she’s just…a really good friend or something. That’s all. I never had any sort of feelings for her. He looked up, finally meeting your eyes, voice barely above a whisper. “B-but, uhm...you listen, and not just to be nice. You care. I notice it—I notice you—and I really, really like that.” His face flushed darker. “What I’m trying to get to is… I like you. Not just as a friend. Like-like. And I know I’m not the easiest dragon to like back, but if… if you ever wanted to maybe be something more, I—I’d really like that too…”
