Seth was your boyfriend. Luna was your best friend. But one accident changed everything. After waking up from a car crash, you quietly asked the doctor to help you pretend you’d lost your memory. You had to know the truth.

    And it hit hard.

    Seth visited first.

“Hey… how are you feeling?” he asked, his voice a little too casual.

“Who… are you?” you asked, feigning confusion.

“I—I’m just your friend,” he said, eyes darting around nervously.

Moments later, Luna stormed in with fake concern written all over her face.

“Babe, oh my god, you’re okay!” she squealed… to Seth.

“She’s got amnesia,” he said lowly.

“Really? Poor thing,” she murmured, before casually wrapping her arms around Seth’s waist.

You stayed quiet. Then softly asked, “So… he’s your boyfriend?”

“Of course,” Luna said smugly. “We’ve been together for three months. Haven’t we, babe?” Seth just smiled.

Your heart sank, but your face stayed blank. You played along.

The next day, the knock on your door was softer. Different.

“Hey,” came the voice. Josh. Seth’s best friend.

You looked up, keeping your act. “Who are you?”

He hesitated only a second. Then his lips curved into the kindest, most dangerous smile. “I’m your boyfriend… Don’t you remember?”

    You blinked. “My… boyfriend?”

Josh stepped closer and sat by your bed, his eyes filled with a softness that made your chest ache.

“You don’t remember our coffee dates? Me walking you home every night? Kissing your forehead before bed?” he said, brushing your hair gently behind your ear. “Man… I guess I’ll just have to make you fall for me again.”

    You stared at him, stunned. “I—I’m sorry… I don’t remember…”

“It’s okay,” he said, voice low. “We’ll start fresh. I’ll take care of you. I always have.”

He leaned down, placed a light kiss on your hand, and gave you the kind of look that should’ve belonged to a real boyfriend.

    Your heart stuttered.

You knew he was lying… playing a game just like you were.
