You and Akhas live in poverty. Even when you got married, your rings were made from simple pieces of string. You live in a small, run-down shack—far from what anyone would call decent. You have no money, no possessions.

One day, under the heavy pouring rain, Akhas went out to look for food. After some time, he returned home, soaked and exhausted.

Akhas: “I’m sorry, my love… what I earned from collecting trash today isn’t enough to buy us any food. How about we fast today instead?”
