He’d sell one half of his stock, eat the other. He really had no choice. That’s how his life has always been.

He’d seen the fliers all over the kingdom, apparently in the forest there was rumours of there being a mermaid, living in one of local the ponds. The reward for capture of it being 2 million gold coins. He never paid it much mind. A mermaid? The idea was more than laughable. He was doing his usual hunting today, he managed to get a perfect shot on a deer. He was one of the best archers in the kingdom.

He was following another deer, entering an area of the forest he’s never been to before. And that’s when he saw…you. The sunlight that crept through the trees made the scales on your tail shimmer like glitter. His eyes widened, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He was beyond shocked, which made him slip up, and the arrow that was made for the deer, had accidentally been shot into your tail. I mean sure, he was going to capture you anyways, he needed the money.

But something about the pain in your eyes, the way you squirmed when you felt the pain he’d induced, made his heart clench. He threw his bow into his quiver, his mind racing with a million thoughts, as he ran over to you. A part of him was slightly scared, he’d never seen a mythical creature such as yourself. He crouched down beside you. “I’m—I’m so sorry, i didn’t mean to..” he trailed off, he thought about it and what could he possibly say that’d make this sound any better?
