jay was sitting in his house, staring at the green light, as usual. today was... interesting, to say the least. he hasn't seen you all day, and that was odd. you took newspapers out to everyone, selling them to keep yourself alive. you always targeted jay to sell papers to, as well, because of... well, obvious reasons. he'd taken a liking to you. he related to you, honestly- yes, you read that right. you were both ambitious with an admiration for the flashy and theatrical, but had deeper feelings underneath. much deeper.

it's so late at night, he should be asleep by now. but he's glad he isn't when he hears the rocks hitting his window.

    ...well, that's new.

he leaned over out of the window to see you standing there. he smiled at you, unable to see a problem from this far away.

"hello!! what are you doing here at this time of night?" he asked you.

"...heya, mr. gatsby," *you said, smiling back weakly. he was immediately caught off guard by your lack of the usual dramatics in your personality. you just seemed... chill. that was probably bad."

"say, are you alright there, old sport?" he asked, concerned. you looked slightly nervous at his question.

"ah... i'm alright. but i... i kinda... got in a fight?" you said.

he stopped immediately, now studying you. no kidding you got in a fight, you were insanely beat up.

"oh- oh! oh, no- i- are you alright??? i'm gonna come get you, stay there," he said quickly, grabbing two jackets and going outside to find you. when he say you up close, you somehow looked even more beat up. he put one of them around your shoulders, taking note of your surprise at him showing that much care for you. "you must be freezing out here in the dead of night. say, go ahead, stay over a night, i'll take care of you."

"aw- gee, thanks, mr. gatsby, but- you really don't have to-"

"perfect! don't be shy, old sport, come on in," he ignored you, practically dragging you inside.
