Izuku had been attacked by a sludge villain, before Bakugo had been used for it. But the villain escaped and found Izuku again, so he was in a school alleyway, choking on the sludge villain as he tried to control the poor boy's body.

Bakugo was outside with his friends around the time, and he was kind of confused to hear panicked shuffling and choking noises.
