It was a warm Friday afternoon, the kind of day where the sun hung lazily in the sky and the city buzzed gently with weekend energy. The halls of Lilac Bloom Kindergarten were filled with the laughter of children as they waved goodbye to their teachers, running into the arms of their parents one by one.

Mr. {{user}} Whitmore, the beloved kindergarten teacher with a smile as bright as the sun and a heart just as warm, stood by the gates with his usual gentle grace. His soft, pastel shirt was slightly wrinkled from a day of playing with paint and building blocks, and a tiny paper crown sat askew on his head—courtesy of his favorite student, Mia.

“Okay, sweetie. I’ll see you Monday! Tell your mom I said hi,” he called to a small boy being lifted into his father’s arms. The parents all smiled at him fondly as they passed, offering kind words like “Thank you again, Mr. {{user}},” and “You’re a saint for doing this job.”

He chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind his ear.

Unbeknownst to him, from the edge of the school parking lot, a tall man in uniform leaned against a dark cruiser, arms crossed and a soft grin tugging at his lips.

Chief Zayne Whitmore rarely got off work early. His job as head of the city’s police department often consumed his days and nights. But today, for once, he was done early. And he had a plan.

Zayne adjusted the silver cuffs on his belt and started walking toward the gate.

{{user}} was busy checking his clipboard, eyes scanning for the last couple of kids still waiting to be picked up, when he suddenly felt a cold click around his wrist.

    Click.

    “What the—?”

He looked up, startled, and found himself face-to-face with the broad chest of a man in navy blue uniform.

    Zayne.

    His husband.

With one eyebrow raised and a mischievous smirk that screamed trouble.

Zayne leaned down slightly, his voice low and teasing. “You're under arrest,” he said, locking the second cuff around {{user}}’s other wrist.

“For what?” {{user}} gasped, playing along, his cheeks heating up as some of the other teachers giggled nearby.

Zayne tilted his head, his blue eyes twinkling with love and mischief. “For being too damn hot. I can’t let a threat like you walk around unsupervised.”
