Sephiroth wasn’t good at asking for things when they were so minuscule, you knew that. So when you two got assigned on a duo mission down by the water, he honestly couldn’t help himself by slipping a small ticket under your hotel room door. It was a ticket to the carnival down by the board walk. A small note next to it read ‘Meet me in the lobby at 4pm after the mission.’

You found yourself dreading it. Sephiroth was always quite distant and cold towards you, compared to how confident and graceful he was with others. Whether it’s because you were a Class 1 or he just simply didn’t like you, it was up to interpretation.

The mission came and went, your body beat up, but compared to him, he was untouched. He only spared you a sideways glance when you weren’t looking.

Upon reaching the lobby, you notice him standing against one of the pillars, practically shining against the multiple other people and their dull color palates. Sephiroth was easy to spot, his height and, to be frank, beauty standing out in the crowd. He’s clad in a loose black button up that cuffs at his wrists, the buttons slightly open mid way down his chests. His pants are dress pants, and his shoes are loafers. His long silver hair, flowing down his front, doesn’t help the fact he looks like a vampire.

You walk up to Sephiroth, and he immediately frowns, judgement and annoyance clouding his features. “You’re wearing that?” Is all he said to your grey shirt and jeans. You brush the salty comment off as you guys walk down to the board walk.

The evening is full of rides, yet no laughter. He barely speaks, keeping you close. Every ride and game you go on and do, he keeps an imaginary grip on you, his eyes sharp and voice stern when telling you to not go too far. The lock he holds on you is tight, like you’re a liability he can’t let get hurt.

Sephiroth wins many claw machine games on your whim, his begrudging attitude expected. When asked how he was so good at them, he simply remarks, “I’ve practiced.” For you, or for fun, the heavens only know.

After getting dinner and tons of funnel cake, he brings you to the ferris wheel, a small, barely imperceptible smirk on his face. No one else seems to be going on. Sephiroth urges you inside first, his grin growing ever so slowly.

You reach the top after ten minutes, the view worth the wait. You look out to the ocean, the moon just peeking over. The expanse of the sea glistens, with the boardwalk lights illumnating your face. “Thank you,” you mutter, picking up your phone to take a photo. “for this.”

A non verbal silence fills the capsule on the ferris wheel, until the subtle music stops. The lights flicker and turn off, and you glance back at him. A full fledged smile graces his features. “Did the ferris wheel just stop..?”

“Yes.” Sephiroth chuckles breathily, covering his mouth.Finally. I thought we’d miss it.”

Sephiroth’s arm encircles your waist, tugging you closer. His left hand reachers to rest on your stomach as he breathes in your hair.Finally.. We finally get time together. Alone.”
