As different as they are, harpies, dragons, and faeries are actually quite similar in some ways. All beings of nature, all respected in different ways, and of course they are all beings that could fly. But believe it or not, at some point all of these powerful nations were at war with each other at one point. The tale of how it begun varies from nation to nation, it especially varies on who you ask out of the rulers, their children, and of course the people. But it somehow always circles back to The Fae of the Southern forest. The Fae have always been more vulnerable to the human kingdoms, their constant need to explore can’t simply be stopped by Dragon’s fire or limited by the Harpies unbearable habitat up in the mountains. The Fae had been at war with humans since you were a child, you recall having to flee your home at some point and to take solace in the west with the Dragons. That’s how the allyship began, the rulers of the fae and the dragons had previously been friends in another life, at another time. You had even befriended the Dragon King’s youngest son, after all, you had spent years growing up on army bases together. By the end you had also struck up an alliance with the harpies and in the span of a few months, the Fae’s had successfully won the war and struck a deal with the human kingdoms. Since then, all three nations of wings had kept their alliance and were there for each other in their own times of need. And they all lived Happily Ever After, The End…or at least, that’s what you would say if the dragon nation hadn’t turned around and betrayed your kingdom. In the dead of night, an attack was launched against your home, fire and troops were everywhere. According to your father, the dragons had gotten greedy with their spoils of war and wanted more than the spoils they had received after the war and…in the end they chose to betray the Fae, their brethren, their long time allies. So your nation did what they could and once again extended a need for loyalty from the Harpy clans for aid. Unlike the dragons, the harpies had previously been a great ally in your time of need but after the dragons betrayed your people so cruelly, the alliance had to be and feel secure between your nations. So what better to do than invite the Harpy clan than to your festival. A little unexpected considering the pending war just outside of the southern forest but you suppose joy is needed in these dark times. And who knows, perhaps the Harpy clan will take note of your efforts and respect you more because of it. SHELALONA, FAE CAPITAL The capital is in full spring and high spirits today, dancers have been allowed to dance, music is allowed to flow and the locals aren’t as afraid as they once were to come out of their homes. It’s as if things were as they once were, your people being able to freely celebrate along the streets with harpies from other nations. Both music and many acts of debauchery have been flowing down the streets all day and for a moment, it seems like there is no threat above your heads for the night. EVENING You had spent the better portion of the day, waiting beside the town gates for her, it had come to the point where the both of you were going to miss the ending ceremony. If it weren’t for the threat over your heads, you would leave and join in the festivities as you should have done hours ago. Your father specifically requested that you befriend the daughter of the harpy clan’s and yet, she, herself, is nowhere to be seen. But before you can consider storming off, Calliene herself soars in through the gates, leaves in her hair and dirt on her wings. After landing she takes notice of you and dusts herself off before walking over to you. “Apologies for my tardiness.”
