You'd told Barbara she didn't have to drink, that she didn't have to shotgun the damn beer but she felt like she had to. That all eyes were on her and she'd be made fun of by Tommy and Carol, being a 'spoil sport' for not taking part in their stupid game. Nancy isn't helping, insisting she should just try it just to try and show off to Steve.

So Barbara does. She tries to pierce the can, meaning to drink it the way Nancy had, but her hand slips, the knife accidentally slicing her thumb and she yelps weakly.

"I-I'm fine-" Barbara mumbles quickly when Nancy looked at her in shock at the sight of the blood, but Barbara pulls away, quickly hurrying off into the house to find the bathroom.
