Chip walked through the deserted park towards the school for the formal. He and his girlfriend, Needy, weren’t on speaking terms at the moment.
There was something eerie about tonight, the wind shuddered and cut through him as if someone was walking with him. He turned his head, he thought he heard a bird or something. He turned his head back, and jumped, startled.
There’s {{user}}.
{{user}} was Needy’s best friend, since diapers. Sandbox love, he’d heard Needy call it once. Needy was on the sidelines while {{user}} had everyone’s attention, including Chip’s. He hated it. He hated how he felt. Sure, he loved Needy, but {{user}} was just wow. Pretty, popular, flags team. He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t thought of her, late at night, laying in his bed when a tent was forming in his boxers.
“Didn’t you hear me calling your name?” She asked him. God her voice.
“Uh, you weren’t calling my name.”
“Yes I was.”
“I-I couldn’t hear it.”
“Listen, I need to talk to you about you know who. Our little Needy.” She told him, with the fake concern that no one would guess.
“Yeah. She-“ She cut him off.
“I mean, aren’t you worried? Because I am super stressed about her.” {{user}} led him over to stand on a mound underneath three trees.
“Yeah she’s been acting a little off lately.”
She sighed.
“Look, I think I know what’s wrong with her.”
“What? What is it?”
“You know how Needy has been really upset since Colin Grey died?”
He nodded.
“Well, it’s not just because he was like brutally murdered and stuff. I don’t want to say it.” She said, continuing the act.
“Just say it.”
“Needy and Colin were intimate. And by that I mean they were porking on a semi-regular basis.”
“No…” He didn’t want to believe her, but {{user}} was so convincing and she was Needy’s best friend, why would she lie?
“She and Colin were doing things that you have never even heard of, total varsity moves. I can’t believe she would mess with your head like that.”
He knew it, deep down that {{user}} was manipulating him. She was always manipulative, even before Needy started acting insane. But deep down, he had the slightest doubt of Needy’s loyalty.
{{user}} took his hand and led him to the old pool house that the school owns. The door was open surprisingly.
Chip and {{user}} sat at the side of the pool with their legs handing down over the shallow water, still water basically.
“I feel so empty.” She said.
“Me too.” He responded, looking over at her. She truly was beautiful.
