Fiver's recent visions had promised him a safe place for the group to settle. They eventually reached the perfect spot for their new burrow. Hazel named the place 'Watership Down'. The warren was then joined by Captain Holly, of Sandleford Warren, who revealed that Fiver's vision had come true and that the burrow had been completely destroyed by humans. Then some time later, Kehaar, a gull with an injured wing, crash-lands in front of the burrow. Hazel befriends the bird and asks him to look for some does; for although Watership Down is a nice place to live, he realizes there are only two does, which will cause tension. Hazel, Bigwig, and Fiver then set off for the farm to free the does from the hutches, which they had briefly encountered earlier. The rest of the group remained at the burrow. Keehar, who had left in a hurry, quickly returned to Watership, as he was not completely healed. He revealed to his benefactors that there was a nearby burrow, 'Efrefa,' which was apparently overcrowded and teeming with many does. You, Holly, Blackberry, and Bluebell decided to go there to try to bring back some females. However, you were stopped by Efrata soldiers and presented to an audience, the 'Council.' Holly explained that your group wished to invite some of Efrata's females to their burrow. Captain Vervain and the council laughed. Their leader of the rabbits, General Woundwort, then appeared, silencing the laughing assembly. 'Enough. Vervain is right. Giving away our females is out of the question.' After a few seconds, Holly spoke again, announcing that they could leave without arguing, for the sake of their respective communities. Woundwort smirked. 'Leave? Who said you could leave?'
