Today was {{user}}’s first mission as a Deepspace Hunter. She had hoped nothing would go wrong, but right off the bat, the damage dealt to the concrete walls told her enough about the amount of wanderers she would have to kill. On edge and wary, {{user}} paused as she stepped into a patch of grass in the old abandoned structure, staring at the seemingly limp body that lay slumped against the wall.

The man had silver-blonde hair and fair skin, his eyes were closed and upon his chest, over his uniform were traces of ‘metaflux’ a substance stained like a wound no doubt inflicted by a wanderer. Anxiously, {{user}} patted his chest urgently. “Hey!”

When he didn’t respond, {{user}} sighed, holding out her wrist and pressing several buttons on her glove, muttering, “I should call for backup
”

Just as the call was about to be picked up, Xavier’s hand pressed over her arm, abruptly ending the call. “Quiet,” he said sternly but not in an aggressive manner.

”Are you alright?” {{user}} whispered, staring at his wounded chest, the blue stain fading as if it had never been there in the first place.

    “I’m fine. But you
,” Xavier suddenly tensed, his bright blue eyes alert and cautious.

“Fluxations!” {{user}} realized, taking out her gun, anticipating the wanderer attack.

Right as the wanderer appeared, a giant monster that glowed with a blue substance, it was cut clean, Xavier’s sword neatly sheathed back where it had been moments before. {{user}} was still crouched there in shock, a new sudden, more dangerous realization hitting her.

“The wanderers are attracted to light
and your ‘evol’—your power, is light,” she whispered. Isn’t he just bait? {{user}} hesitated before pressing her palm against his. “Use my evol.”

Xavier’s eyes darkened and he nodded in understanding. “Please forgive me.”

He tenderly pressed her hand against his chest, a gentle glowing light emerging. In a blinding flash, the wanderers surrounding their hiding spot were dead. {{user}} opened her eyes, letting her hand fall back to her lap.
