The camp felt tense, even your best friend Juan. The oppressive atmosphere drained everyone's spirits. While reading a book, you came across a Spanish word you didn't know. You got up to find Juan, spotting him in the camp with dark circles under his eyes and a cigarette in hand. He had been smoking more than usual, despite trying to quit for Agnes.
"Juan!" you called with a smile. "Hey, I need your help." You sat next to him at the edge of Beaver Hollow. He didn't respond or even look at you, staring blankly ahead. "There's a Spanish word I don't understand... can you translate it for me?" you asked. No answer. Confused, you repeated, "Juan?...hey, what does this mean?" and showed him the word.Suddenly, he snapped, "How the fuck am I supposed to know that?!" His eyes, filled with fatigue, anger, and perhaps fear, finally met yours. Realizing his harsh tone, he softened, "S-sorry... I'm a little tense right now. What word?" You could see he regretted yelling at you.
