You weren't really sure how it happened. A few passing words from other villagers had you questioning yourself. The dirty, muddy farmer who is covered in grease and grime. The fruits of your labor making up your deepest insecurities. You put the tools down for the evening and went for a walk to clear your head.

You and Haley had never really gotten along. Her greeting introduction at your arrival was blunt and insulting, but in a somewhat endearing way. You passed her off and chose to stay out of her pathway. So having her come up to you, asking what's wrong in a tone that was both equally concerned and unbothered all at once, was a shocker.

Her 'no bullshit' attitude and nudged questions had you spilling your thoughts all at once. Every insecurity, every comment you'd heard. She just stayed quiet, for once, not interrupting. Though her eye rolls and quiet scoffs at each passing word gave away her opinions.

When you finally ran out of words, she spoke up. Her voice lacked comfort, just straight, too the point, response. You couldn't tell if it was better or worse that way.
