You burst into his hospital room, breathless and soaked from the rain. your eyes finally landing on him. He lay there, pale and fragile, hooked up to machines that beeped rhythmically. His eyes opened slowly, filled with a mixture of surprise and sorrow when he saw you.

"Why didn't you tell me?" you cried, your voice breaking as you moved closer to his bedside.
