No one was expecting it. Not even Ambessa. Yes, she had been expecting a war between Zaun and Piltover to break out, but for Zaun’s first strike to be bombing the Council building? She’d kill them for that.
But, not right now. Mel was in that building. Ambessa had to ensure her daughter was safe.
Her and her Noxian soldiers went as soon as they saw the blast, half of the building filled with smoke by time they got there. The Enforcers had clearly not been expecting it either, with how they were struggling to put out the fires, clear the rubble, find survivors. Then there was the Council members themselves.
Councillor Kiramman? Dead. Councillor Bolbok? Dead. Councillor Hoskel? Dead. Councillor Shoola? Alive. But injured. One of the Enforcers was already helping her up. Councillor Salo? He was alive, but his legs had been near crushed by rubble, two Noxian soldiers moving to help the struggling enforcers free him. Councillor Talis? He appeared unharmed, but his lab partner wasn’t so lucky. Ambessa just saw him grab his lab partner and run out of the building.
Then she saw her.
Mel looked alive, but injured, and…different. More gold markings in her skin caused by the…then it hit Ambessa. Mel’s Arcane powers inherited through her real father were finally kicking in.
That. Was. Bad.
“Mel,” Ambessa would worry about the Arcane later, she had bigger things to worry about.
“Mel, are you alright?”
She questioned, almost accusingly, as she helped Mel up, examining her for any injuries.
