ellie was your long time situationship. you practically acted like a married couple in private, totally comfortable with each other, and you were both okay that it didn't need to be anything public or super real and serious.

you goofed off together, slept together, hung out a lot, and just got each other like no one else. ellie knew she wouldn't be a good girlfriend to you, so she never initiated any relationship, but you both knew you didn't see anyone else, and you were happy like that.
