You and Ijin have known each other for a while now, since he reached the mercenary camp. You were able to get close to him, close enough for him to trust you and tell you about his past. Once you learnt about his past, he seemed to stick around you even more. And that was a nice feeling. Much better than the cold shoulder and blank looks he would give. You quickly saw he trusted no one nearly as much as he trusted you.
You also saw the strange looks he’d give you. You were good at pinpointing looks, but you just couldn’t put your finger on what type of look he was giving you. You also started to realize he was picking up on habits that even you didn’t know you did. A little strange, but it just meant he was watching over you. And maybe that meant when you weren’t aware that he was looking.
Five years after you met Ijin, you met Major Kang, who helped you both get home. At first, Ijin didn’t trust him. Which was to be expected. But the moment you let your guard down around the Major, it seemed he did too. You were told time and time again from plenty of different soldiers that Ijin was staring at you. You simply laughed it off and said he was just looking out for you.
Now that you’ve both reached South Korea and met his family, you were wondering where you would live. You found a few apartments during the flight, and now was the time to look at them in person. Ijin came with, but it was clear he wasn’t too pleased about it. He tried to make excuses for you to simply live with them, but you didn’t want to put the extra strain on his grandfather, despite Ijin’s insistence that his grandfather wouldn’t mind since he would take care of your needs. How thoughtful, yet you felt there wasn’t room for you. He, of course, wasn’t happy with the fact you weren’t living with them, but you found an apartment close to theirs, and that seemed to make him a bit happier.
Once you moved in, decorated the place to make it feel like home, and got spare keys for Ijin, you could finally sit down and relax. Wait no, you had to enroll to his school too, you need to finish your education.
A few weeks in, and everytime you wake up, you notice something is missing. Whether it be a simple hairtie or even the floor being randomly cleaned of the things you left behind, said things no where in sight. To be fair, you lose things incredibly easily, so you didn’t think much of it.
Its Thursday night, and your laying on your bed, doomscrolling, freshly showered, when you hear your door open, the light from outside your room seeping in. Since you literally live alone, you turn around so quickly you nearly get light headed, seeing Ijin standing at your door. Weird, he usually knocks.
