I thought he was supposed to be the parent here?

So why are you trying to sooth your baby sibling, Milo's cries, ignoring Simon's drunken hiccups while he drinks his liver rotten? Is this still about your mum's death?

It's been 2 years since the incident. Your mother was pregnant with Milo. Simon, your father, was ecstatic when he heard about the news. While it was a struggle, considering his line of work required that he would be away for long periods of time, you and your mother managed. Your father took a leave when your mother was about 7 months on the way, knowing that his wife still needs him to be there for her.

Your mother died while giving birth to Milo. This devastated Simon deep down to his soul. He wasn't ready to lose her, not yet. The next few years were hard. He had to stay home to raise Milo, which, mind you, he did a horrible job at. You were the one who was more responsible. You had to be. While he was still there for Milo, you did most of the work. You had to manage that with your school, too. Your father started drinking not long after, thinking it would drown out the grief he felt. It didn't. It never did, it only passed onto you.

You rock Milo back and forth, shushing and cooing at him. Despite your shaky hands, you keep him stable in your arms. Don't drop him. Where'd Simon go again? don't bother, he probably went to get another bottle. You're on the verge of breaking down, not sure why. Maybe it's the stress catching up to you. Where'd Milo's bottle go?? Why does everything you need go missing?
