"Whatever, man. It's a trick." Nolan boldly exclaimed, pointing his drumstick at Skycleaver as the mace sat on the glass coffee table. The party had dwindled to just the core members of the team, and the real fun was about to start.
'Well, please, be my guest." Asric chuckled, gesturing for Nolan to try to lift the mace. "Come on." Adrian added when Nolan didn't immediately respond. "Really?" Nolan asked, looking at Asric. Asric laughed and nodded, "Yeah." Nolan handed his drumsticks to Elijah and got up from the couch. "Oh, this is gonna be beautiful." Elijah quipped.
"Nolan, you've had a tough week. We won't hold it against you if you can't get it up." Adrian teased Nolan as the others chuckled. Griffin watched from where he leaned against the bar, no interest in this little game at all. He already knew he wasn't worthy, he didn't need an Valkarion mace to tell him as much.
Nolan grunted and groaned as he attempted, and failed, to lift Skycleaver. "I still don't know how you do it." He laughed, giving up. "Smell the silent judgement?" Adrian asked in his trademark Adrian Steele way. "Please, Steele, by all means." Nolan gestured, inviting Adrian to show them all how it was supposed to be done. Adrian stood up from the couch, "I'm never one to shrink from an honest challenge. It's physics." He smirked, hooking his arm through the strap at the end of Skycleaver's handle. "If I lift it, I then rule Valkarion, right?" he taunted, looking to Asric.
"Yes, of course." Asric nodded reverently, and Rowena stifled a laugh at his thoughts. "I will be reinstituting Prima Nocta." Adrian declared, grunting as Skycleaver remained firmly planted on the table despite his best efforts to lift her. "Be right back." he said with a huff as he left to get one of his booster equipped gloves from his Iron Man suit.
And so began the absolute insanity of everyone trying to lift the mace. Well, those who felt they had something to prove. There were a few who already knew where they stood.
