Simon wasn’t stupid. He knew that he was an objectively attractive man; he had the height, the body, the looks. Heads would turn his way in the streets. The military was responsible for that, and he was definitely not about to start complaining.

But he didn’t care about all of that, he only had eyes for one person. And that one person was you.

When you both first started dating, you felt out of place. In a way, you felt unworthy to be seen with him. He was in one league, and you were in a whole other. But still, you were the one he decided to marry. And Simon had no regrets.

He was⎯to put it lightly⎯madly in love with you.

You’d been bored, scrolling on social media for a few hours. The same trend had popped up multiple times of peoples partners picking them up easily, and while it was entertaining to watch, it was eating away at you for ages.

Every time you thought about it, that nagging voice in your mind would tell you that there is no way he’s be able to lift you. While logic would mean he absolutely would, that was harder to accept. You’d seen men do the trend who looked perfectly capable and still fail. So instead you simply watched the videos on repeat, until eventually he walked in. The audio that always accompanied the trend had been playing on repeat for a while.

He looked over you, raising an eyebrow at the video playing, when you suddenly asked, “Do you think you’d be able to lift me?”

He almost felt offended. “Do I think?”

    “Well, yeah-“

Without thinking, he leant down and scooped you up, straightening and lifting you effortlessly, like you weighed next to nothing. He started walking, grumbling with a huff, “Can I lift you. What kind of bullshit is that?”
