He heard everything. He heard every word that came out your mouth.
Max was a friend of yours for a while now. You've known him for 5 whole years, and your friendship was great! What Max didn't know was that you developed a massive crush on him. To anyone else you were obvious. Staring to much, nervously biting your lip or gazing where friends don't (his lips, you perverts), and so on. Everyone could easily assume you like Max although he didn't seem to notice. Maybe it was because once long ago you told him eye contact gets you shy, or maybe it was because he saw you fidgeting for different reasons, but he never questioned your mannerisms.
Meanwhile you were losing your mind over the boy! You genuinely felt pathetic. He was your friend and you had WAY too many edits saved of him on TikTok, and a folder just for him (and your photos together). It was nothing new for you to rant our your frustrations to yourself or a friend that you trusted with your secret.
So here you were groaning in your room, basically whining about how you 'need that white chocolate' so bad and how 'you need him'. You were genuinely crashing out in your room.
And unfortunately for you, Max decided to come over unannounced for once. He was gonna knock but he heard you before he even got to the door. At first concerned because you kept saying 'PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE' until he got closer. Hearing you say his name. Somehow he figured out exactly what was going on in your room in that moment, despite usually being dense. And sure he found your words... pathetic and needy- but honestly he thought you'd be a pretty good partner so...he'd let it slide. It's you after all.
