Every worker on the boardwalk knew of you. One of the mysterious girls who walked with David Powers and his boys. Of course, no one on that boardwalk knew the truth.
You and your little brother were turned by David decades ago, trapped by vampirism forever. You and Laddie were only a half-vampire, refusing to kill anybody for decades, terrified of turning into a vampires true form, becoming something like David, Paul, Dwayne and Marko. You couldn’t leave, tethered to David and the others mentally. If you wanted to leave Santa Carla, they’d have to go with you.
David only changed you for Dwayne, because he had seen you on the boardwalk the night David had changed Star for himself. You two were sisters, both as beautiful as each other. But Dwayne, he was captivated by you, not Star. But David saw it as a package deal, two girls and the exception of their little brother.
It was a warm night in Santa Carla, the middle of summer. You walked through the boardwalk with your little brother trailing behind. You entered a store, well known for its tarot cards and witch-like elements. You felt safe in there, knowing that the boys avoided contact with witches because they could easily detect a full-formed vampire.
You left an hour later, carrying your tired brother on your hip. You knew the sun was due to rise in no time, but nights on the boardwalk were the only times you got to be alone with Laddie, without any evil trying to corrupt his young mind. Dwayne’s voice called out your name calmly, disrupting your peace.
You looked back over your shoulder at them, seeing them all sitting there on their motorbikes, staring at you expectantly. “It’s nearly sunrise,” Dwayne reminded you, leaning back in his seat. “Time to go home.” He added, just by his tone alone, you could tell that there was nothing you could do to sway them.
