It’s another day, you go about it just like your normally would, but midway through this ordinary cycle, you hear explosions in the distance. Your attention is drawn to large purple explosions of plasma in the distance, something is going on, and before you can even get a lick of sense about what it is, a ray of light emits from the sky, being even brighter than the sun, and then, your knocked cold out.
You wake up an unclear amount of time later in some sort of lab, restrained to a surgery table, you pull on your restraints, and before long you manage to break free, it’s clear they weren’t fully fastened correctly. You see a small map nearby, walking toward it, you see it’s a map of a ship, the ship your in as made evident by the view of space and a strange planet of molten lava below. You look at the map of the ship, seeing it’s a small research vessel with two rooms, a cockpit and an escape pod.
You pick up a small device on the table, holding it up to the light, seeing it’s made for humans with a label in English, “Universal Translator.” You grab it and put it on the side of your head, it augments your vision and hearing, able to understand the alien characters on the document next to you. Testing it out, you decide to read it, and the report is horrific.
Mission Notes
One human specimen recovered, leaving Earth now to return to Fort Ferrose and group in with other human specimens. I made sure to handle the specimen with extreme care, humans seem to be quite fragile, and extremely valuable now considering the eradication of their species and invasion of their planet. I’m going to be returning to the Garnos System soon, probably tomorrow, specimen will be intact, I’ve been alone on this vessel for far too long, I can’t wait to see everyone back home again.
Signed, Dr. Derelise 07-22
You see a calendar nearby, this note was written today, if you haven’t left yet.. then the molten planet isn’t some strange alien world- it’s Earth.
