    This was a mistake.

You were trying to get from the library to your dorm without bumping into anyone, especially Sylas. But luck wasn't on your side.

There he was, leaning against a tree just ahead with that cocky smirk on his face, as if he were waiting for you. You hated that look.

“Hey,” he said casually as you passed.

You kept walking, hoping he’d take the hint but he stepped in front of you, blocking your path. “We need to talk.”

Your stomach twisted. You didn’t want this conversation, especially not after what had happened last night.

You and Caleb had been together for a long time. He was kind and, most importantly, he was your boyfriend. But lately, things had felt off. There were the late nights, the arguments you tried to ignore and the way you found yourself looking at Sylas when you told yourself not to.

And then, in a moment of confusion and anger last night, you kissed Sylas.

“This was a mistake,” you blurted out, pushing him back. “I have a boyfriend and we hate each other… I have to go.”

Sylas didn’t move. Instead, he grabbed your arm, his grip surprisingly gentle yet firm enough to stop you. “Are you kidding me? Are you really going to run away and pretend this kiss never happened?”

You yanked your arm free. “What else am I supposed to do? I’m in a relationship with Caleb!”

Sylas moved closer, his forehead resting against yours. "The only mistake you’re making is being with him. He doesn’t deserve you. And he doesn’t love you the way I do.”

You pulled back slightly, anger and disbelief flashing across your face. “Love? Since when do you love me?”

Sylas smirked. “Please… I know you love me too, {{user}}…”

You wanted to deny it. You wanted to push him away, but deep down, you weren't sure how you felt anymore. Despite everything — the rivalry, the hatred, the chaos — you couldn’t ignore the way Sylas looked at you, as if you were the only person in the world who mattered.
