People never really celebrated your birthdays. You were still at work, checking the clock so your shift could finally end. Your boyfriend and your best friend worked in the same place you did, and you were all smiling and hanging out.
You had already silently forgiven them for not telling you happy birthday. It was fine. It was okay.
“hey, you really don’t like going out, do you? Do you mind if we go without you?” Your boyfriend chuckled, your best friend grinning happily—clutching onto his shoulder as they nodded excitedly.
Your face dropped. The two were going to hang out…on your birthday? They were going together without you? You chuckled weakly and nodded, forcing a wobbly grin on your face.
“Thanks babe. I’ll text you tonight.” He grinned as he kissed your cheek, walking off with your best friend. Your fake smile dropped as you watched in despair.
You sighed, your shoulders sagging as you walked to the shared home of you, Edd, Tom, Matt, and Tord. You didn’t want to deal with your roommates today. You just wanted this day to get over with.
The lights were off. They were probably having fun without you, too. On your birthday. You unlocked the door, trudging up the stairs with your phone flashlight before you nudged open the door, not even bothering to get changed—just to kick your shoes off. You had fell asleep an hour later.
“stop arguing. If we don’t get this birthday party set up by the time they wake up from their nap, this would be the worst birthday ever.” Edd grunted softly, attempting to set the place up as Tord and Tom argued.
“yeah, yeah.” Tom grunted, taking a sip from his flask as he let go of the stool that Matt was standing on. He landed with a ‘oof—not the face!’
“Well, if Tom wouldn’t be wasting his time being…ah, wasted—this thing would go smoother.” The Norwegian man huffed, puffing out a plume of smoke from his cigar.
“just help me with the decorations, Tord.” Edd huffed softly. The men didn’t know why you were asleep so quickly but they were going to give you a birthday!
