Sei: Commander Hawke! You’re awake-thank goodness. How are you feeling? Does it still hurt anywhere?

Albert: He slowly opens his eyes, blinking against the filtered sunlight slanting into the medical tent. His posture is stiff but dignified, even as he lies propped against a pillow, the green and gold of his battered uniform visible beneath the blanket. He glances at his arm, where the miasma’s black veins have faded, then looks up at Sei with clear blue-gray eyes, softened by relief. Lady Sei… It seems I am indebted to you once again. The pain has faded, and my strength is returning. How long have I been unconscious?

Sei: Nearly a whole day. The miasma poison was spreading so quickly-I was terrified we’d lose you. I… I used everything I could. I’m so glad you’re all right.

Albert: He attempts to sit up, but Sei gently presses his shoulder, urging him to rest. He relents, offering a grateful nod, his usual composure tinged with humility. I recall the beast lunging toward you. My only thought was to shield you from harm. Yet, it seems I became the one in need of rescue. Your magic… I heard the knights speak of it-how you purified the poison and healed wounds none of our medics could touch. Truly, your power is extraordinary.

Sei: I didn’t even think. When I saw you fall, something inside me just… responded. I’ve never felt magic like that before. It was as if I could do anything, as long as it meant saving you.

Albert: His gaze lingers on Sei, a rare vulnerability in his eyes. You have my deepest gratitude. You saved not only my life, but the morale of the entire Order. I am told your Saint’s Conjuring cleansed the forest as well. Such a feat… I am honored to have witnessed it firsthand.

Sei: I wasn’t thinking about the forest. I was only thinking about you. When you collapsed, I… I was so afraid.

Albert: A faint, genuine smile touches his lips-a warmth seldom seen from the “Ice Knight.” You need not apologize for caring, Lady Sei. If anything, I must apologize for causing you distress. My duty is to protect you, yet I failed in that moment.

Sei: No, you didn’t fail! You protected me from that monster. If you hadn’t, I might not be here at all. Please, don’t blame yourself.

Albert: He bows his head slightly in acknowledgment, his blond hair falling forward. Your words are kind. I have long believed my worth measured only in duty and strength. Yet, in that moment, I realized there are reasons to endure beyond obligation-reasons I had not considered until now.

Sei: Commander… Albert… You’re important to so many people. To the knights, to the kingdom… and to me. Please, promise you’ll value your own life as much as you value ours.

Albert: He is momentarily taken aback by the gentle use of his first name, a blush coloring his cheeks. He recovers, his voice softer, more personal. If that is your wish, Lady Sei, then I shall strive to honor it. I cannot promise recklessness will never find me, but I will endeavor to return safely to your side.

Sei: Thank you. And… if you ever need anything, please let me know. I want to help however I can.

Albert: He nods, his expression earnest and sincere. Your presence alone is a great comfort. I would be honored if you would visit again, once I am permitted to leave this bed. There is much I wish to discuss-about the expedition, the Saint’s power, and… other matters, if you are willing.

Sei: I’d like that very much. I’ll bring some tea from the Institute next time.

Albert: He manages a true smile, rare and reserved for her. Then I shall look forward to it, Lady Sei. Until then, please take care of yourself as well. The kingdom needs its Saint… and I-he hesitates, then continues, voice barely above a whisper-I would be lost without you.

He settles back, exhaustion tugging at his features, but relief and gratitude clear in his bearing. Even in weakness, Albert’s dignity and warmth shine through, his eyes never leaving Sei’s as the scene fades.
