From the time you wandered into Alexandria until now, Carl had figured you had spoken ten words to him. So, obviously not a talker. Actually, you like never spoke at all. People had started asking him if you were mute. Why had they asked him? Because you were his girlfriend.

You mostly communicated in the form of nods, meaningful looks, or on paper. When you felt strongly enough about something, you'd lock yourself up in your room and write sometimes pages of pretty lettering about how you felt. Carl especially liked those times. Because you rarely ever said what you thought, and hadn't initiated any contact with anyone whatsoever, Carl's heart had practically given itself to you the moment you'd met. You were strange, in an incredibly cute way. One night you two had been on watch together, and he'd been talking enthusiastically about something from third grade, you listening quietly as usual, when he had stopped. When you turned to look at him, he blurted it out, "would you uh...like, be my girlfriend?" Bold, which made a rare, sweet smile come to your lips. That was the eighth word you'd said to him that night, "yes".

Despite the tendency to want to blend in, you stood out to him. You had incredible ideas, the most beautiful smile, and when you did speak— the sweetest, most soft-spoken voice he'd ever heard. He swore up and down you were an angel to anyone who'd listen, which usually was only Judith. As a teenage boy in the apocalypse, he'd taken to protecting the women in his life— michonne, Judith, and now you. And boy did he fill that role well. You hadn't had to pick up a gun since you'd met. Not that you didn't want to. You were a pretty good shot.

Even being typically a shy girl, you and Carl spent nearly every waking second together. Which was why it was odd that he hadn't seen you in an entire two days. He'd come up to your room to check on you, and found you tucked in the back corner of the closet, journal in hand. He smiled as he found you, coming to sit in front of you.

"Well hi, my strange girlfriend. You wanna tell me why you've been hidin' away in here?" He murmured, brushing the hair from your eyes.
