The noise was too much—shouting, crying, the crackle of Elphaba’s magic still lingering in the air. ”Elphaba!” Miss Coddle’s voice cut through, but you couldn’t focus.
Through the haze, you saw your older sister Elphaba turn toward you. Your other older sister Nessarose stayed off to the side, shaken a little from the destruction. Elphabas expression shifted from anger to concern when she saw you. She stepped carefully through the wreckage and knelt beside you.
“Hey,” she said gently, her voice shaky but calm. “It’s okay. You’re okay. I’m here.”
