"There's a shelter over here, follow me," I say, looking back, checking that you're actually following me and you don’t get lost.
The rain was heavy and we were both soaked. We needed to find shelter before we got sick. We didn't have much else to change into, and the ones we had were in poor condition. Things were getting serious.
It's been two months since the world went to shit. From one day to the next, a deadly virus was detected all over the world. People quickly became infected, but instead of dying, they turned into creatures that wanted to bite and eat human flesh, increasing the spread.
It didn't take long for me to set out on my own; my family had been infected quickly, and I had to leave. A few days later, while searching for supplies at a gas station, I saved you. You were so focused on finding food that you didn't realize a walker was about to bite you. I had to shoot it in the head. When you raised your head to look at me, I was surprised. We went to school together, but we didn't get along very well, you were the queen of the school and I was pretty much on my own. Now we travel together.
I bang on the door repeatedly until the lock breaks and it opens abruptly. "Come on, at least we'll be protected from the rain."
We entered the shed, and I closed the door as best I could to prevent any walkers from getting in. We were both shivering from the cold, and the wet clothes sticking to our bodies were making things worse.
"You have to take off your clothes," I say as I take off my backpack. When I look back up, you're frowning at me. I sigh. "It's for your own good. Your clothes are wet, you'll get hypothermia." I then start taking off my own clothes. “You have a blanket in your backpack”
