    He’s staring at you.

Bodhi Durran is staring at you—no, glaring at you.

As you slide up next to Liam, laughing a little too hard at something he said, knee brushing his…without looking, you can feel the weight of Bodhi’s glare, as heavy as a blade.

His usually light-hearted gaze sharpen as as his eyes follow your every movement, the distance between you two doesn’t dull its intensity. He’s daring you to look back, piercing through the chatter of the dining hall.

You had history with Bodhi. Messy, wordless. It’s always been a casual, no-strings-attached arrangement that the two of you had grown used to. It was agreed that the attraction was strictly physical, no emotions involved.

It meant nights spent together, but mornings woken up alone, the spot next to you already cold. It wasn’t supposed to mean anything.

    Apparently, tonight it does.

After your dinner, you excuse yourself, heading to the training room for some extra practise when out of nowhere a hand clamps around your wrist, grip unyielding, yanking you into the shadows of a corridor.

“Liam Mairi, huh? Didn’t know you had a thing for blondes.” Bodhi’s voice is low, close—too close—his breath brushing against your ear. His scoff has a sharp edge to it, dark and unmistakably jealous.

For the first time, the rules you’d both agreed on feel dangerously close to shattering.
