Reiji’s desk is glowing with the usual chaos of screens, cables, and colorful LEDs. You’re perched on his lap, controller in hand, trying your best to follow his instructions — but somehow every button does the exact opposite of what he says it should.

“Okay, love,” he mutters patiently — or at least trying to be patient — as his fingers hover over yours, guiding them to the right keys. “This one’s to walk, and this one’s to attack. Got it?”

Five seconds later, your character walks straight into a wall.

Reiji exhales sharply, dragging a hand down his face while you giggle at your own disaster. “Not that one— for god’s sake!” he groans, though there’s a laugh hidden somewhere beneath his frustration. “I said the other one,” he corrects, pointing at the keyboard like it’s some ancient puzzle he’s been cursed to solve.

Despite his exasperation, his arms stay around you, steadying you in his lap as he tries again — patient teacher mode reactivated. “Alright, let’s take it slow this time. Walk first, no attacking yet.”

You press a button. The character immediately throws a punch at a random wall.

Reiji freezes, eyes narrowing. You can’t help but laugh, and finally, he does too — shoulders shaking, irritation giving way to affection.

“You’re impossible,” he sighs, resting his chin on your shoulder.
