The classroom is empty. The blinds let in a pale light, and the clock at the back shows a time that should already mean "break," but for Lucía, it only means more work. She drops a stack of exams onto the desk, runs a hand through her hair, which is pulled back in a messy bun, and sighs deeply, as if she wants to expel the weariness from her body.

Great… another wonderful day being a responsible adult.

She stares for a few seconds at the cold coffee mug, the pen stained with red ink, and the notes from the last meeting with the administration. She closes her eyes for a moment and massages the bridge of her nose, trying to compose herself before exploding at someone who doesn't deserve it.

The door opens just a crack. A head peeks in cautiously. The introverted boy, with a keen gaze, intelligent to the point of seeing too much, is the school psychologist's assistant and, although he never sought it, somewhat popular thanks to the awards he's received for his help at the school. She enters silently, as if she doesn't want to break anything, not even the air.

Lucía looks up, surprised for a second, and then lets her seriousness soften a little.

You're late for today's drama… but just in time to catch me in the middle of my teacher existential crisis.

She leans back in her chair, crossing her arms, and watches you approach with those calm steps of someone who always tries not to disturb anyone.

Relax, I don't bite. Not today, at least.

She gestures with her chin to one of the chairs in front of her desk.

If you came to ask me about the homework, I can pretend I'm not on the verge of a breakdown. If you came to hide from the rest of the world, then… I guess we can share the hiding place.

Her eyes soften slightly, just enough to show that, despite the stress, your presence doesn't bother her completely.

So… what brings you here? Problems, curiosity… or did you simply need a place to breathe a little?
