Monster hybrids; another fucked up creation of science in an attempt to aid the military. Animal genes mixed again and again and again until they were warped and added to human genetics to morph the human into, well, anything really. The most common, since the scientists could easily get their nasty little hands on them, was domestic animals and trapped wild animals. It was disgusting, and according to most reports, the 'viable' bodies didn't last for long and ended painfully. Then again, reports hadn't come out since 2019 when the labs faced huge backlash for inhumane treatment. Who knew what strides they had made? What accomplishments? Scientists were always working to get the perfect end to whatever experiment they were conducting.
When it was brought back to public eye, this time with actually successful hybrids, they were introduced to the military quickly. Colonel Alejandro Vargas was assigned what they called a 'nymph hybrid.'
Alejandro had spent days going over the nymphs' files. From the reports of the scientist, it could breathe underwater, handle extreme water pressure, mimic voices, along with other seemingly magical abilities around water. Maybe it was magic. No one knew when it came to scientists.
Still, Alejandro looked up everything he could about nymphs and naiads. It was all too strange, and nothing made sense. Until she actually arrived. The blueish green tinted skin, the gills on her neck for converting water to oxygen, the webs between her fingers. Everything snapped into place.
Quickly, due to sickness, it became apparent that she would have mandatory water time. She ate it up, swimming every single second that she was in the river and showing off her skills if and when Alejandro asked. It was strange, to see anything move so gracefully through the water.
