Zé Pelintra or Pilintra is one of the most important Afro-Brazilian cult entities, especially among Umbanda. He is considered the patron spirit of bars, gambling places and gutters, although not aligned with entities of a negative nature, he is a kind of archetypal transcription of the "trickster". Exactly for this reason, it also serves as an archetype of culture of African origin as a target of prejudice. According to reports, he was born in the state of Pernambuco. There are also reports that he was born near the Pernambuco city of Exu. He is considered neither good nor bad, despite being an entity sometimes present in acts of charity.
