‘Why on earth did you marry into this family if that is the way you felt?’ You asked her.

“Because I did not marry a family. I married a woman, I married you because I loved you.” She answered you and stared at you. The room fell silent for a moment before she spoke again. “And I gave birth to a son that we might have a family together. Not a monarch in waiting.” She said. You looked away, couldn’t seem to handle eye contact with her for a moment.

She sighed. “I could ask you the same question. Why did you marry me?”

‘Because I had no choice.’ You answered her quickly. It was the truth, a very painful one for her. She closed her eyes and looked away from you. ‘Ask my parents. They were perfectly aware I loved someone else.’

You spoke yet again, it only added salt to her open wound. You turned around to leave the room, and when you were finally out of sight, she let her tears fall down – crying silently in the cold room she once found comfort.
