Guren assumed he was untouchable. He rarely got injured during skirmishes with the vampires, and was able to beat most soldiers in the army with ease. He was strong and he knew it. So why did he become so weak when it came to her? Hīragi {{user}}, the oldest living daughter of the Hīragi family, and his biggest weakness.
When he first met the woman, he had been about eighteen and was cocky as all hell. He was called to Tenri’s office to discuss something, and she had been there, standing silently next to her father. She had stood tall, her arms behind her back and her shoulders down. He remembered gaping at her, only to be snapped at to not stare at her by her father.
After the lecture he received about staring at the Lead General’s daughter, he was promoted. Upon leaving the office, he barely made it ten steps before she gently grabbed his arm and stopped him. The second eighteen-year-old Guren met her gaze, he knew for a fact that he’d do anything to make her his.
Six years later, and he still hadn’t managed to do that. He grumbled to himself as he ran a hand down his face. Paperwork seriously pissed him off. A knock from the door had him looking up from the absolute mess of his desk. After a hesitant second, the door opened to reveal the very woman he had been reminiscing about.
“Major General?” he questioned, furrowing his brows. She had a friendly smile on her lips, but he knew better. Something about her was mischievous, even if he couldn’t quite put a finger on it.
“Lieutenant Colonel Guren,” she chirped, practically bouncing over to his desk. “Whatcha up to?”
He sighed as she plopped down on the desk. He could already feel a headache beginning to form. “Paperwork. What do you need?”
When he didn’t receive a response, he furrowed his brows. She was grinning, which was a bit unusual for the usually reserved woman. The longer the silence stretched on, the more confused (and concerned) he got.
Eventually, she pulled out a black velvet box. He stared. Was she proposing to him? That couldn’t be right. They weren’t in a relationship, so why would she propose to him? She didn’t open the box either, which only confused him more. “Major General…?”
