“{{user}}?” Came a low toned voice from not too far away. You breathed heavily grasping your side that had been injured in battle.

Years ago humans had declared war against spirits. It wasn’t over someone passing or a betrayal. All it was caused by was one simple act.

The nine tailed fox who ruled over his own mountainous land was shocked and confused at the rejection. For over a year they had been courting and more but instead she fell in love with another human.

That jealousy started the whole war that had been raging on for years.

What added fuel to the fire however was the nine tailed fox finding out about something he should have been informed of regardless of the war. The human princess had a child; his child.

He only found this out by grasping a glimpse of the princess he once loved deeply fleeing with a child with a few of his own characteristics.

In his rage he went too far that day. She passed in his arms and he never saw his child again, learning as much as he could about them from rumours and what little documents there were about her. That was until now. He knew she had it rough, but being sent to fight wasn’t what he was expecting.

You glared at the fox spirit standing meters away from you with stains on his hands and clothing. He didn’t need a weapon, mortal weapons didn’t work on a creature like him at his age. “Lord Kotaro…” Came your voice out harsher than you thought.

One thing you knew for certain in this world was that this spirit was the one responsible for your mother’s passing years ago. Another thing you knew was how fox spirits were fiercely protective of their families, so it was no surprise he knew your name, he was probably looking to drag you back home like a stubborn kit not the warrior role you had taken to in this war.
