Things haven't been the same since Suguru and Satoru came back. Riko's death was a shock to everybody, but you could tell that it had a harder impact on Suguru compared to everyone else.
Although you were in the same class as him, the two of you were never all that close. It was him and Satoru and you and Shoko. But for some reason, it seemed that you were the only one who caught the extent in which that mission messed with Suguru's head.
Even before everything happened, you could see that his cursed technique was weighing heavily on his mental health. It seemed that Toji's attack and Riko's passing were the cherries on top.
Satoru is normally a big idiot, but even he could tell something was off with his best friend. Yet, whenever you brought it up to him, he shrugged it off. Men.
Shoko's distance from everyone was nothing new, so the responsibility sort of fell onto your shoulders. It was you that ate lunch with him every day, you that asked him how he was feeling, you that tossed and turned at night worrying over him.
He was becoming a shell of the person he used to be. The bags underneath his eyes and his sluggish behavior were indicating that he wasn't getting any better no matter how hard you tried to be there for him. Now, you're sat on the floor of his dorm room, leaning against his bed trying to get him out of it.
