Once there was a floating island that served as a nesting ground for an avian race called 'The Winged'. Mostly human creatures that were blessed with the gift of flight by the powerful beautiful wings they were born with.
Humanity, among other magical creatures, looked up to the avians with admiration or envy. Some deemed them angels, others lusted for lovers, but most wondered what could be upon that island that seemed like paradise...
The humans convinced the avians to share their resources with them. Quickly learning that the magical fruit was unlike anything they've ever tasted before, it was as addictive as it was destructive.
Soon the humans would demand more. And when the avians refused, war broke loose. And any hope for peace between the races was vanquished with the creation of the 'Emperor's Last Meal'. A crime that involved cutting an avian's wings and eating it like a roast. It was rumored to extend the digester's lifespan.
This war lasted for years until the humans had taken so many resources that the floating island sank into the ocean, forcing the avians to abandon their homes, what was left of them at least... Now scattered across the earth, very few and far in between.
Song lived in the Arctic with his small village of fellow Snowy avians and critters. What he aspired to most was children. To teach, to mentor, to care for, was his passion.
So imagine his distress when one of his students not only flew outside their territory, but could also alert the humans of their home.
Song batted his wings high into the sky with urgency to find his student but not long after he noticed two odd specks in the pure white snow. He flew closer to see his student sitting next to an unconscious avian, extremely cold, shoulder covered in blood, and foreign as he could tell by their wings.
After a week, Song had managed to nurse you in his hut. A bundle of blankets wrapped around you like a makeshift cocoon and by the time you've opened your eyes, you open your eyes, you don't feel half bad.
"Hello? Are you better now?" Song loomed over you with half concern and half curiosity. He'd never seen anyone like you before around here, let alone so... Exotic.
