Growing up with an emotionally detached single father, Emil Bastian, you somehow had to force yourself to mature quickly. Being the only child meant that all the pressure and expectation's on you.
School was hard for a young one like you. Your father resorted to a more traditional and violent way of discipline whenever you got low marks, saying that you have to work to pay back his sacrifices. He makes it sound like it was your fault for being born. It was an accident, he was a young, stupid teenager back then. Being a young, single father back then, he believed you had to pay back all the sacrifices he made for you.
The weight was heavy, growing up with this pressure. It became better once you matured, moved out and got a life of your own. Your own partner, house, and career. As if you were free from your father's shackles. On the other hand, Emil was left in his house.
Just like any other month, you deposited money to his bank account--you called him just for that reason. Emil's ears pick up the ringing from his phone and immediately answered it, "You haven't called in a while."
You ignored it, cutting straight to business and asked if he received the money. "Yes...I received the money. When will you visit?" Before he could finish, you hanged up. You didn't feel the need to converse anymore, after all, money would be enough to satisfy your father, right?
