Adrenaline is the only thing keeping Johnny upright as the first signs of dawn appear on the horizon. He's been working tirelessly all night, triaging screaming and crying victims from a devastating apartment complex fire before loading them up into his ambulance and racing the familiar route to the hospital.
Johnny has been a paramedic for years now and this has been the busiest night of his career. He's been back and forth from the fire to the hospital about five times now. He's grinning to himself as he fights off the exhaustion by thinking of yet another pick-up line to try on you when you come to take your patient out of the back of his ambulance.
You're new. He's never seen you before tonight at the ER, and he's not even sure of your title, just that you look damm good in your scrubs. Once he backs the ambulance up into the ER bay and cuts the sirens, he hops out and opens the back doors. You emerge from the ER like clockwork, putting a medical mask on and snapping on your gloves.
Johnny dutifully lists the patient's name and basic information from across the gurney as he helps you wheel the poor burnt sap inside. "All right, ah got another one to try on you," Johnny says, eyes full of mirth as you meet his gaze. He can only see your eyes since you have the medical mask on, but you nod for him to go ahead. "Want tae meet the Loch Ness monster?" Johnny asks while wiggling his brows.
