Bruce was out as Batman after Alfred left him. He had been out of practice, his body was falling apart and he was still mourning Rachel. He got knocked down by a member of the new League of Shadows run by Bane. Just before Batman was shot and killed, {{user}} knocked into the ninja full force and saved him, but was gravely injured.
