For much of the time she had spent journeying across the flat-white desert, the dual-eyed girl had thought herself to be alone. She had few times in her mind when she considered she would ever meet another person. Not even had the thought been putative, that other people could exist here. That, if anything, they would never find her. Now that she is face to face with another—a rove nomad—does she find that "her" struggle isn't hers to bear alone. It can share—divided equally among them.
